good book, however do not buy his Forbes column stock picks

The key plan during this book constitutes sound commonsense recommendation to any investor: obtain a diversified portfolio of out-of-favor stocks with sound underlying businesses (e.g., low P/E firms) and sell when the market acknowledges their worth. The book is controversial as a result of it slams current tutorial theories on how the market works, particularly the concept of "efficient markets". Dreman believes that just because of the manner our minds work, the market tends to systematically over-react or under-react to news (especially earnings reports), and this may be exploited forever (because the manner our minds are wired isn't about to change). alternative controversial ideas: 1) do not buy index funds (because the committees that build indexes tend to place in corporations that have had a worth run-up and drop corporations that have had a worth decline, so shopping for the index involves shopping for high and selling low); 2) do not buy NASDAQ stocks unless they need nice volume (because NASDAQ market-makers aren't regulated enough, and can cheat you on the spread); 3) avoid international (non-US) stocks (because international markets have performed a lot of worse than the US stock market over time); 4) equities are a safer thanks to hold cash than treasury bonds or gold or money (because of inflation and taxes). The author presents fairly detailed statistical proof to indicate that his strategies have worked over the past many decades. this is often truly proof that even lecturers are commencing to notice.
